Rescue?

Session 20th July 2008

Using the tracer, they find that I am being kept close to the bow, just above the water-line.

Vee finds that she has the power to make them both invisible, but only for 12 seconds! Since this is not much help, she makes herself invisible for somewhat longer, and leads the way. She starts opening the four doors off the corridor to see if there is another staircase - one is a break room, one is bunk room and the third is a captain's study. The final room is locked, so Vee picks the lock to find a computer/satellite uplink room. So instead they go down the back stairs...

After scouting out a safe route down two decks, Vee calls Jax down, which is achieved surprisingly smoothly. At the next staircase there are stairs up and down. The stairds up lead to somewhere near the bridge, and did not appear on the ships map on the bridge. They decide to investigate later, and carry on down, where a couple of (ninja) guards seem to be suspicious, as if they have heard something. After some poncing around one of them pull out a grenade, so Vee paralyses him, then pushes him on top of his own grenade. This causes it to detonate...

It turns out that it is a flash grenade, which blinds our "heroes" for a few seconds. This gives the second guard time to sound the alarm. Bollocks!

At about this time I start to wake up (sirens will do that to you :( ). I have a splitting headache and don't seem to have any kit. I try to listen to see if anyone is near me. I am lying face-down on a massage table, and can hear people in the same room.

The others are now racing towards my prison, so I hope to take advantage of any distraction. They finally arrive, to find three ninja guards and a bloke in a lab coat with me.

I flail ineffectively during the combat, but fortunately Jax and Vee are on form, and knock out or kill the guards - the scientist escapes during the fight.

I have had one of the exploding-head devices fitted, and we surmise that it can be set off by the kit on the top deck satellite link, so we head that way. As we get to the bridge, Jax is set on by a ninja. He is bloody fast, and very hard to hit, so I leave the others too it, while I nip into the comms room to try to disable the computers - after lots of too-ing and fro-ing he takes Vee down hard, and Jax is unconcious. Meanwhile I have been in the blow-up-someone's-head room trying to make sense of the controls, which, to a man of my calibre, is ridiculously easy. Unfortunately our enemy smashes in the door at this point, but he is incredibly stupid, which causes him to attempt to stun me, rather than just kill me. This gives enough time for Jax to wake up, and for me to finish locating the bad guy's explosive device on the computer :) Jax distracts him for just long enough for me to activate it, killing him instantly. Strangely this gives me a compulsion to rip the device in my head out immediately, but this will have to wait - Vee is bleeding to death. After much fumbling with bandages Jax and I manage to stop the bleeding before she dies. In lieu of destroying the comms room, I take the hard drive for later analysis.

Only now do we realise that there is no plan in place to get us off the boat :)

Not only that, all of my kit is somewhere on the boat, probably back down on the deck that we just came from.

Kidnapping and Bribery

Dr Ferrell Taft's (one of the technical wizards who are part of the Seven Seconds) daughter has been kidnapped (probably by Robert Wang (who we suspect, we don't know why) as has Jesus (Seven Seconds pilot), who is supposed to be swapped for one of the player characters at some point.

We have just laid a trap for Dr Yin Wu's henchmen, or Styx (mind control man) by pretending to transport Lex Brathen (I can't remember who he is!). Yin Wu's henchmen attacked us, and we took them down very quickly. Only a couple of them were dead, but then all of their heads explode, killing them all, so we have no-one who can be interrogated.

Lex wakes from his unconciousness, so we ask him if he recognises a picture of Robert Wang. He says that the Shono Conglomerate is one part of Yin Wu's empire. Dr Yin Wu has cells throughout the city, and he never has people come to his place. Styx is an "associate" of Yin Wu, not an employee. He is completely bullet-proof. That is all he will admit to knowing.

At 7pm, I am going to the mega mall food court to sort out the hostage swap. I have taken a radioactive tracer, so that I can be found.

V gives me additional strength (up to 25) V and Jax disguise themselves, and go into the food court 15 mins before me.

I arrive to see Robert Wang sitting at a table. I sit, and he scans me for weapons.

I ask about Jesus, and he is shown to me at the other end of the concourse. I then go the car with him.

Side story - Harbinger has shot a couple of Card Shark agents who were entering a Go tournament tomorrow.

We get to the Carlton Executive suites (tower blocks), which contain offices of Hubbes and Co (his insurance co) on the 29th and 30th floor.

However, we don't stop there, but go up to the helicopter on the roof. The others decide not to rescue me, but to follow the copter, which is full of bad guys.

The copter lands on the back of a yacht (The Blossom) in the middle of the sea. The others plan an airborne assault - using flight spells; V can cast it, and the Tarot deck has a flight spell.

Jax's landing could have been (a lot) smoother, but the noise doesn't seem to attract any attention.

They explore the top of the boat to see if they can find a way in, finally settling on the bridge. Jax finds a guard at the far end of a long corridor - V mind controls him to stop him giving the alarm, then Jax takes him apart, knocking him through the door into the bridge. There are three other people on the bridge. Jax then cuts one down with his sword, following up with a sword in the face of one of the others. The final guy surrenders!

Meanwhile I am taken in to see Robert Wang, who say that he wants to offer us a six-figure sum each to stop investigating the death of J. P. Kendrick (original exploding head man), and then he drugs me, saying that I will wake up back in my apartment.

Meanwhile, the others are sneaking around to try to find me.

The Team Get Whipped

Four (real time) weeks later, on 27th April 2008...

We try interrogating Tarot (who is actually V's sister, Francesca), but Winter is unable to focus well enough to read her mind. The animated post is something to do with her base.
A little while later a Monsignour/Policeman arrives as a representative of the Vatican, as Tarot is wanted by them, although we don't know why.

We are unable to hear the interrogation carried out by the Monsignour, so I go in to listen from inside. We then get a phone call from Winter, who, rather than being with us, turns out to be in the Wang Su's dojo! This is near where we fought The Four Thunders. For some reason I am convinced to allow the priest to carry on the interrogation without us being there, and we go to help Winter.

When we arrive I sense 3 people in the room, but when we go in, there are 4 - one of them does not register as human, even though he looks it. He is the one standing over three unconcious bodies.

Winter is one of the prone bodies. The only standing figure is good-looking and well-dressed. He is carrying Winter's two swords, and a gun that was used to shoot Winter :(

He says "Just my bad luck, I suppose. You're not on my ticket" (presumably meaning that he would like to attack us, but has not been ordered to do so), and then we attack him.

He attempts to mind control Jax to kill V, but he fails. He then grapples me, and holds me as a shield. V then transports him 5 minutes into the future, so that we are able to save Winter from dying.

When he reappears we lay into him, but we turn out to be crap, and he manages to run out of the Dojo. V follows him, managing to blind him before he escapes. We all follow, and a farce ensues. Finally, he escapes...

The Battle on the Hill

Written by Bob Salinger - events played out on 2nd March 2008.

As we join the action, we are deep in combat with the Red Cabal. V has just entangled Winter, presumably to stop her attacking Tarot, and then did something nasty to her newly-revealed sister (Tarot)! V seems to want to take her down without killing her. Salinger and Jax are busy on the fringes of the fight. Tarot disappears, and reappears on top of the Pillar of Faces, where V entangles her. Salinger's lizard-man is causing an impressive amount of trouble for such a minor enemy!

The real problem turns out to be Firebug, who does enough damage to take Salinger down, after playing fire on the Telluses holding the fire demons, so releasing them.

Then Salinger and Pup are both taken down by the lizard-man, but Salinger is up again in a few seconds, just in time to shoot Tarot as she attempts to escape.

Finally Winter killed Firebug, which caused the Fire Demon inside him to reveal himself, and absorb the other Fire Demons.

V dispels the magic controlling the pillar to stop Tarot being carried off by it. Jax then attacks the post, actually knocking it over!

The Fire Demon is finally dispelled by V, just after a big explosion from the Demon. We then arrest Tarot.
